Corona del Mar or “Crown of the Sea" is a town in the affluent city of Newport Beach, California with a population according to the US 2010 Census of 12,478. It generally consists of land on the seaward face of the San Joaquin Hills and is known for its fine beaches, view properties, and quaint village shops. Beaches in the area include Corona del Mar State Beach as well as Crystal Cove State Park where beach lovers can enjoy a scenic winding pathway to the sand.
Corona del Mar consists mostly of closely spaced, free-standing, detached single-family houses of varying architecture, concentrated along Pacific Coast Highway. Newer developments tend to be California ranch style houses, many with expansive ocean views and hillside gated communities such as Spyglass which offers residents a choice of opulent townhomes to custom estates.
Residents and tourists alike enjoy one of the areas favorite shopping districts, Fashion Island, where boutique shops, larger department stores, and eateries can be experienced while watching the ocean sunsets.
